All Kindergarten children are taught some basic sign language during our speech and language lessons. We do this to demonstrate that communication can be about more than speaking verbally and writing. Each week in class, we learn a new "secret sign word". This is a word that we can say with our hands but not with our mouths. The following is a list of words that we learn during the year. Your child may or may not know the word at this point but you can all go to the sign language web site linked above to watch video of how to make the sign and learn together!
Apple, Boat, Cat, Dog, Elephant
Fish, Goat, Horse, Ice Cream
Jacket, Key, Leaf, Monkey, Nest
Octopus, Pizza, Rainbow, Socks
Turtle and Worm, Zoo
