Freshman Year Timeline
Fall
- Meet with your counselor to begin talking about colleges and careers.
- Make sure you are enrolled in the appropriate college-preparatory classes.
- Earn high grades. The grades you earn in ninth grade will be included in your final high school GPA and class rank. All grades from ninth grade on will be sent to colleges!
- Explore your interests and possible careers.
- Get involved in extracurricular activities and community service. Colleges will look for this when you apply as a senior.
Winter
- Talk to your parents about planning for college expenses.
- Start saving money for college.
- Look at college information in the guidance office, and library. Use the Internet to look at college web sites.
Spring
- Continue to keep your grades up.
- Explore careers and colleges.
- Take advantage of Pennsylvania College of Technology’s Career Day opportunities through the school.
- Turn in your twenty hours of completed community service hours to the guidance office.
Summer
- Continue to save money for college.
