Mrs. Wheeler will:

• Provide grade appropriate guidance and counseling
• Nurture positive student growth-academically, socially, and emotionally
• Facilitate academic achievement through collaboration with students, parents, and faculty
• Help students develop positive peer relations
• Foster student self-esteem
• Help students with career information and post-secondary planning
• Collaborate with faculty and administrators to provide a safe and nurturing school environment.

The three main functions to achieve these goals are the following:

• Counseling
• Consultation to parents, teachers, and school teams
• Coordination of school wide initiatives

Why do we need School Counselors?

Professional school counselors are certified/licensed professionals with a masters' degree or higher in school counseling or the substantial equivalent and are uniquely qualified to address the developmental needs of all students.  Professional school counselors deliver a comprehensive school counseling program encouraging all students' academic, career, and personal/social development and helping all students in maximizing student achievement.
