LAPAT Minutes

May 3, 2010

President Cathleen Alexander called the meeting to order at 3:25. In attendance were Cathleen Alexander (president), Carolyn Moyer (treasurer), Mya Sawyer (vice president), Lisa Williams (secretary).Lori Nelson, and Diane Gonzalez

 

Carolyn gave the treasurer’s report. There is a balance of $9,378.81.

 

Old Business:

 

The Mobile Ag. Ed. Lab is going to be scheduled for a week in the fall. Two possible dates: week of November 15 or week the of October 25. LAPAT is waiting on Dr. Lindner’s approval of one of those weeks.

 

 

LAPAT is now providing funds for PSSA rewards field trips.

 

TV turn-off week concluded and prizes have been purchased to give out on May 13th. Lisa and Cathleen will do the presentations.

 

Volunteer names have been collected. Volunteers will be honored at a special assembly on May 13th.

 

Staff appreciation is May 4th. Last minute preparations were discussed.

 

A plan for parent recruitment at Kinder Camp was formed. A bag with an educational toy or book, juice box and a letter inviting parents to attend our meeting and volunteer will be assembled for Kinder Camp students. Lori Nelson  is ordering toys or books, Carolyn will get juice boxes, and Mya is doing a write up. Gift bags with these items will be assembled by June 2nd.

 

New Business:

 

The possibility of an additional fundraiser was discussed. It was decided that if one project need funding and our balance was down we would have a fund raiser specifically for the project.

 

Box Tops For Education sent us a check totaling $1,3970.00. We want to publicize this in church bulletins and Liberty Life to thank everyone for participating and encourage them to keep collecting.

 

The final awards assembly is June 3rd. Character pins need to be finished by then.

 

There has been interest in evening meetings. LAPAT committed to two meeting next year in the evening. Our first will be September 13th at 7:00.

 

Several Thank You cards were read from Girls On the Move, Second Graders, and Mrs. Yeager.

 

It was suggested that next year that each homeroom teacher ask one parent to become a “Homeroom LAPAT Parent”. These would be individuals that could attend some meetings and help out on big projects.
