Music Appreciation Projects

Welcome to Music Appreciation Class!  We've been doing podcasts, working on rhythm, melody, notes, and style, and getting to appreciate a

wide variety of music by listening every day!  Currently each class has listened to over 400 songs in the course of the year.

PROJECTS: Click on any of the projects below to hear what we have been doing.

This is Taylor's goofy "Twinkle, Twinkle Little Star" parody that she made up in a couple minutes just playing around with Audacity.   CLICK HERE

Windows Movie Maker Project This was our newest project.  The students were to choose three moods or feelings that could be

represented with music.  They then had to figure out a way to show the listener the mood that they were trying to show, using video and pictures, and finally by telling us.

First Podcast Assignment Our first technology assignment was to create a 'podcast' about anything at all.  The students could literally pick any subject to write about and here's some of the stuff they came up with.  Click to listen, or right click to save.

A-Sizzle and the Broadway Review                Erica and Beauty School                 Justin and Ipod Touch                     Nate and The Mets

Steph and Music Lessons                                           Jared and PS3                                           Matt and Mario Bros                        Jim and 'The 27 Club'

Stomp Project:   The class took every day items such as pots and pans, spoons, notebooks, etc., and made a rhythm band out of it.

The final project was to be played by the group for the rest of the class.  Here are some examples of what we came up with.

Second Podcast Assignment The second assignment was to either create a compilation of songs based on any theme and put them together in

a way that makes sense, OR to create a 'techno' version of any song.  Here are a couple of jobs well done!

Jordon Powers and the "Final Fantasy" Compilation                                Taylor Whittle and the Love Mix

Jimmy Antes and the Psychadelic Mix                                                   Sarah Strong and the "Jumpsuit Mix"

Zack Reider and the Dire Mix                                                                             Kenny Vance and his Mix
