Southern Tioga School District has a history of local and state recognition for providing special education programs and services in the least restrictive environment. Our commitment to inclusive education practices has proven to provide many life rewards and benefits for students with disabilities.
Southern Tioga School District actively seeks out opportunities for transition programming that allows students experiences in real life situations, where skills can be applied and new skills learned. Transition takes place utilizing the community as a learning center and incorporates human service agencies, local businesses, educational institutions and the community at large.
Southern Tioga School District special education services have strong professional and para-professional staff dedicated to meeting students’ needs. There is School Board and Administration support for enhancement of services and inclusive education practices that contribute to a sense of belonging/collaboration with aims to do away with “labeling” of students. There is commitment and pride to creating awareness, partnership and opportunity for students with disabilities.
