Sophomore Year Timeline
Fall
- Become familiar with general college entrance requirements.
- Participate in career development activities.
- Look up colleges you may be interested in on the Internet.
- Keep your grades up.
- Get involved in school activities and/or community service. Colleges are looking for well- rounded students who are involved in activities outside the classroom.
Winter
- Work on your writing skills-you’ll need them no matter what you do.
- Continue to be involved in community service and clubs/activities.
Spring
- Keep your grades up so you can have the highest GPA and class rank possible. Don’t wait until your senior year.
- Continue to explore interests and careers that you think you may like.
- Try to narrow down colleges that you prefer (two-year, four-year, small or large, rural or urban).
- Write/e-mail colleges and ask for their academic requirements for admission.
- Keep putting money away for college. Get a summer job to help.
- Turn in your community service hours to the guidance office. You should have forty hours completed so far.
Summer
- Continue to explore career interest and college information via the internet.
