7th Grade Computers: Keyboarding/Word Processing/Internet

This course will begin by expanding on the techniques introduced in the elementary school. Students will use word processing software to create letters, memos, bulletins, brochures and newsletters. This course will cover the basic tolls for using the Internet, including e-mail, browsers, and search engines. The main focus of this course is to give all students the fundamentals necessary to allow them to use computers for word processing in their academic courses.

8th Grade Computer Applications: Database, Spreadsheets, Presentations

This course will use presentation, spreadsheet, and database software to teach basic skills. With the acquisition of these skills students will be able to use five major computer applications in all academic areas.

9th Grade Internet

This course will provide extensive exposure to curriculum-related sites and teach students to evaluate these sites for authority. The use of electronic resources available in the high school libraries and the citing of all on-line sources will be covered. On-line safety and ethics will be stressed.

Technology Simulation Lab

This course is designed to introduce students to the world of technology. The student will experience various concepts such as, but not limited to, robotics, animation, computer aided machining, aviation, and computer aided design. Students will have the opportunity to choose specific areas of interest and expand their knowledge in that area.

Video and Media Production

This course provides a basic introduction to video and media production and related communication skills. Camcorder operation, VCR operation and maintenance, non-linear and linear video editing, basic audio production, script writing, basic television broadcasting and lighting are the basic skill areas. Communication skills, which are necessary to create the successful use of this non-print technology, are also emphasized. Oral communication skills and story composition are introduced.
