2021-2022 Information
Southern Tioga Learning Community,
On August 31, 2021, the Pennsylvania Department of Health mandated the wearing of face coverings for all K-12 school districts in the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania, effective Tuesday, September 7, 2021. The Order requires all school entities to enforce the requirement that all teachers, children/students, staff, and visitors (subject to the exceptions in Section 3) wear a face-covering indoors.
The Southern Tioga School District will require all students and staff to wear face coverings while indoors on school property and while they are riding on school district transportation. Students will not be required to wear face coverings during outdoor activities. All visitors will be required to wear face coverings when indoors.
STSD has had 18 positive student and staff cases since August 25, 2021. With all students wearing face coverings, we will be able to limit the number of students who are identified as close contacts and therefore limit the number of individuals that will need to be isolated. The masking mandate will contribute to keeping students in a face-to-face setting.
If a student does not comply with the masking order, they will be sent home. We are currently investigating remote options that we can offer students.
I know these are challenging times for our school district and the surrounding community. Please work together so we can move forward in a manner that continues to keep our students and staff in school.
