Books and Bowls Event

Tonight, Liberty Elementary School hosted its Books and Bowls event and raised approximately $1100 for the food banks in the local communities.

Attendees purchased bowls that had been created by students, teachers, family members, and community members, and then they paid a fee to fill the bowls with food and enjoy a delicious meal at the school.

Food was donated by 242 Coffee Company, the Bloss Holiday Market, and teachers.

Additionally, there was live music in the cafeteria as well as a book fair in the library. Funds raised by the fair will be used to purchase new books for the library and Makerspace supplies.

Thanks to all who came out to support, and a special thanks to all those who donated food, time, and help to make the event possible!

Winners from Cabin Fever announced

During our Cabin Fever event last week, we had exit tickets established at each of our activities. By completing a ticket, students and family members entered their names into a drawing to win a movie, board game, and sports game.

We’d like to announce our winners:

In the movie activity, grade 1 student Zephrah Wetzel won a copy of The Lion King on DVD.

In board games, grade 1 student Allison Phillips won the game Guesstures.

And finally, in sports games, grade 1 student Audrina Hopkins won a soft tipped Lawn Darts game.

Congratulations to our winners!

Prizes may be picked up at the school or sent home with students.

Read Across America Week 2018

Please join us in celebrating Read Across America Week, a nationwide and motivational celebration of reading that inspires children to read daily. The celebration will begin on Dr. Seuss’s birthday (which is Friday, March 2), and we will continue to celebrate the following week (Monday, March 5 to Friday, March 9).

Each day, we have spirited activities planned to keep our students excited about reading. Please check out the scheduled dress-up days below.

Also, don’t forget to check out our Books and Bowls event on Thursday, March 8 from 5:00 to 7:00PM. We are looking forward to a week of learning and fun!

Friday (March 2) - Happy Birthday Dr. Seuss! - Wear red and white or black.

Monday (March 5) - The Cat in the Hat Comes Back - Wear stripes, and the more you wear, the better!

Tuesday (March 6) - Put Me in the Zoo - Dress wild and wear animal prints or an article of clothing with an animal on it.

Wednesday (March 7) - Wacky Wednesday - Wear mismatched clothing, socks, etc. You can even style yourself with wacky hair too.

Thursday (March 8) - Green Eggs and Ham - Wear as much green as you can.

Friday (March 9) - Oh, The Places You'll Go - Wear a T-shirt or sweatshirt with a place you have been or want to go (examples are Penn State, Ocean City, Knoebels, etc.)
