Ms. Dutchess is the Elementary School Counselor at Warren L. Miller Elementary School. She earned her M. Ed. from Frostburg State University in Maryland and her Bachelor Degree from Mansfield University of Pennsylvania. She has worked at Warren L. Miller Elementary School for 23 years.

The school counseling program is comprised of counseling, coordination and consultation.

Counseling– Every student, kindergarten through 6th grade, can take advantage of the individual counseling services that are provided daily. There is also the opportunity for  small groups, ie: separation/divorce, anger management and death and grief. The students in grades 3-6 also receive large group counseling in Guidance class. During this time, the students explore careers, character building, ways to deal with changes in life, conflict-resolution, peer pressure, as well as other topics.

Coordination- The school counselor is in charge of creating and maintaining the counseling program. She coordinates all classroom lessons, small groups, individual sessions, as well as school wide programs such as Red Ribbon Week, The Great Kindness Challenge, REACH HIGHER, Safe Touch,  and 504 plans.

Consultation– Consulting with educators, parents and outside agencies is an integral part of the school counseling program. The counselor meets and consults with medical agencies, county agencies, community groups, and other counseling professionals.
